the short story Shari Brownfield began the art advisory firm Shari Brownfield Fine Art, LLC in 2015 after more than twenty years of combined gallery, museum and art brokerage experience. Shari earned her BFA with a major in Painting and Art History, and a minor in Philosophy from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada.
Shari is actively involved in the local art community, and serves on the boards at the Art Association of Jackson Hole and Community Safety Network.
the long story Shari fell in love with the visual arts early in life and was always drawing and doodling, even when she thought she would go on to be a lawyer some day. While receiving her BFA in Painting and Art History in Montreal, Canada, Shari caught the art collecting bug and much to the dismay of her parents she emptied her bank account to purchase a lithograph by favorite painter Antoni Tàpies. She couldn’t afford to frame the piece for months and worked several jobs while attending art school to get a frame and bolster her meager savings.
Shari embarked on the discovery of all aspects of the art world with full- and part-time jobs. Over the last twenty years she's worked through the ranks of the art world, from gallery grunt, crate builder, data entry clerk, volunteer coordinator, manager, artist agent, and sales associate, culminating with the position of director at prominent galleries in the US.
Shari found her greatest joy to be when she could use her varied background and experience and combine that with developing deep relationships with clients, truly understanding their needs to help them make that perfect acquisition.
Shari is a hunter, gatherer, and teacher wrapped into one. She is a self described “art geek” and is happiest when talking about, looking at or evaluating art.
